HISTORY

Ducketts Common and Green Gate Common is a 3.5 hectare public park in Harringay, in the London Borough of Haringey.

Located opposite Turnpike Lane tube station, on Green Lanes, Ducketts Common is a remnant of Dovecote farm that was purchased in 1862 for development, and the common was created in 1887 when Green Lanes and other boundary roads were built.

The name 'Ducketts' originated from Laurence Ducket who was a descendant of a Norman knight who accompanied William the Conqueror.

Green Gate Common is a small patch of green located just across the Green Lanes from Ducketts Common, and it is thought that air raid shelters may exist beneath it. source: Wikipedia
